This project is a collaboration of the Utrecht institute of Linguistics OTS and the Free University of Berlin. It was carried out between November, 2005 and May, 2009, jointly financed by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO).

The project has concentrated on the collection and archiving of data on reciprocal markers from a wide range of languages. The data has been stored in a public database, the Berlin-Utrecht Reciprocals Survey. At present, the database contains data from 76 languages, more than 150 reciprocal markers and more than 1200 glossed example sentences. The non-public (password protected) version contains data on another four dozens of languages. This data is used for project-internal purposes only at this moment, but is intended to be made public at a later stage.
