This  work  has  been  supported  by  an  Erwin  Schroedinger
fellowship  (Austrian   Science   Fund   FWF),  by   the  Swiss
National Science Foundation, by the Marie Curie Programme
of  the  European  Union, and is  currently supported within the
Werner  Heisenberg  Programme  of  Deutsche  Forschungs-
gemeinschaft  (German  Research  Foundation),  the German
Academic  Exchange Service, the Programme  for promoting
young  scientists  (Friedrich - Schiller - Universität  Jena), and

Commercially available reactands from Fluka:

For  commercially  available  reactands  (ETHT  4001,  ETHT
4003,  ETHT  4004,
CR-514, and CR-546) have a look at the
homepage  of
Fluka  and  Aldrich.  The  chemically  stable pH
indicator  dye  GJM-541  with  colour  changes  from yellow to
purple, a pKa  of 7.5,  and a  vinylsulfonyl  group  for  covalent
immobilization  will soon become  available (find more details
in the List of Projects below).
ETHT 4001 is Fluka  product  number 18596,  ETHT  4003 is
Fluka 28218,   ETHT 4004 is  Fluka 28222,  CR-514 is Fluka
95647, and CR-546 is Fluka 08709.
New dyes for biotechnology and miniaturized optical
devices
Recent   research  focuses  on reactands  with  methacrylate
groups for the preparation of molecularly-imprinted polymers
that recognize analytes even in aqueous medium.
Furthermore, miniaturized  optical sensor modules based on
light  emitting  diodes  and photodiodes  attached  to CMOS
chips  are  currently  being  developed  for  aqueous  carbon
dioxide    in    cooperation    with    the    original   equipment
