Digital Images of Neotropical Arctiidae and Geometridae

Arctiidae Digital Images

- from La Selva and the Barva transect (Costa Rica)

Specimens were sampled along an elevational gradient from 40 m to 2730 m at La Selva Biological station and along the Barva transect. The study area and the sampling methods are described in Brehm, Colwell and Kluge (2007), a paper about diversity of geometrid moths and the role of mid-domain effect and environmental factors. The diversity and macroecology of arctiid moths will be analysed; results will hopefully be published in 2008 or 2009. Moths were identified in BMNH, USNM and AMNH. Identifications are preliminary.

- from Podocarpus National Park and the Rio San Francisco valley (southern Ecuador)

Specimens were sampled along an elevational gradient from 1040 to 2677 m in Podocarpus National Park and the Reserva Biologica San Francisco in southern Ecuador. Results have been published in various papers (e.g. Brehm et al. 2005). A checklist is available. Moths were identified in ZSM (with Herbulot collection), BMNH, USNM, AMNH and others. Identifications often are preliminary.
